Ramblings of my absence

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Mar 9, 2010 9:01AM

It's been 3 months since I last touched onsugar.

Was down with some heart issues and was too depressed to do anything, much less blogging. It was one of the darkest period of my life. Had always wanted to be back, but seriously, the situation was so bad that I lose myself. For those who followed my twitter or are in my facebook, will probably have seen some of my unhappy tweets and updates. It took me quite awhile to snap out of it. But many thanks to my friends who were by my side during this period of time, accompanying me when I needed them the most. Right now, I'm adapting to it and hope everything is going to be better for the future.

Hope all of you readers aren't angry with me for my sudden absence.

Besides heart matters, school has been pretty harsh on me. Lots of assignments and stress to face to. Am working really hard on it whilst trying to get distracted from my moodiness.

I shall not ramble on depressing stuffs or my tears are definitely gonna stream down all over again. I'm going to share with you something related to makeup. No tutorials for now, but am working on it soon.

On Sunday, I experienced being a makeup artist for a fashion show for the first time. Truly an amazing experience. Totally different from the usual photography shoots that I went. Met alot of other makeup artists and learnt alot from the rest too. So here's the event.

It was a fundraising event for Haiti earthquake. In collaboration with some of the blogshops, this event turned out to be a success. Pardon the next few photos, because it was taken by my iPhone, therefore, some of it are pretty blur.

Due to the scorching sun, there were lots of makeups melting in the process. Totally challenging us to utilise whatever we had on hands.

Another mad rush in the hotel room. It was chaotic!!

Models sitting at the corridor of the hotel, awaiting for the fashion runway to start.

One of the models that I did makeup for. Had to do a total of 3 different looks, but I failed to take pictures of the other 2 looks. It was bold, something that I never tried before. Love the outlooks!

Mad blur picture. Valerie is another makeup artist that I know through this fashion show. Uber sweet and nice.

Totally had fun while doing this. Sadly, I did not have pictures of the fashion runway too because I was busy touching up models at the backstage. Shall wait for the organisers to send me the photos instead.

That's all for now! Shall blog again soon!

Once again, apologies for not updating for the past 2 months! Hope all of you understand!

God Bless,

Bianca

Last tutorial for the year

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Dec 28, 2009 12:17AM

Yep, 2009 is coming to an end real soon. It has been a wonderful year for me, and I hope you feel the same too. Am having a week holiday right now, and that's precisely the reason why I managed to find time doing a tutorial. I'm glad that I am able to update my blog a little more regularly as compared to the past. And am praying that all of you are enjoying the regular updates too. But on the sidenote, though I'm having my holidays, it does not mean that I'm 24/7 free. I have tons of projects to clear. The most stressful holiday ever, I swear! Gosh!

Enough of ramblings...

My tutorial this time, is a combination of green and purple. Seriously, I had always thought this colours would not look good together. But I'm taking back my words now. Spare some time and watch the tutorial. And if you like it, try it on too.

Fiberwig Mascara

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Dec 22, 2009 11:47PM

My latest craze for Mascara. It promises to lengthen your eyelashes with the help of those fibers.

How many times were you disappointed with mascara, because they fail what it promised to do. I know I did. Especially when those eyelashes are stubbornly straight and short, and despite several coatings, the length of your eyelashes remain the same. Its almost impossible to make it longer, unless of course, you are referring to eyelashes extension or those falsies. Besides, applying more coats, you will end up with extreme clumpy lashes. Eww...

But Fiberwig prove to be different. Shall not say much, I'm gonna let the pictures do the talking.

Saw the difference in length????

And it doesn't harden like other mascara. The texture of your lashes is still soft and natural. And the best part of it is, easy removal. Seriously, I hate removing mascara, because it end up smudging my eyes. Fortunately, this baby does a clean job. It comes out as clumps. No smudging at all!

There's the proof.

Fiberwig also comes in a smaller size, known as "the finisher". Its small brush make it easier for you to reach to the hard to get areas. And it definitely make it easier for me to apply on my lower lashes.

Its selling at SaSa, and the Mascara cost $25, whereas the finisher cost $16. I'm officially a convert!

And my school holiday is finally coming. *excited* I went for a full mani and pedi yesterday. It feel really good to get myself pampered! That's my current nails, and I love it much. The swarovski crystals make me really happy.

Especially my thumbs! I am tempted to make all 10 fingernails looking like this. Wondering if I should??

That's all for today post, and one last reminder-- my Christmas giveaway is ending at 7pm today, so if you are interested, don't be late.

Hugs!

Love,

Bianca

STAGE Forbidden Confession workshop

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Dec 17, 2009 6:59AM

So last Saturday, I went to attend the workshop with one of my friend. And I was really excited about the whole event, anticipating how its gonna be like. But when it started, I learnt that we would be standing up throughout, watching the makeup artist doing the makeup on one of the girl. Horror... Because I was wearing heels.

I was a little bored because I can't get a clear view of the whole makeup session and the makeup artist was asking alot of questions. I was hoping for a hands on session, that will definitely make the whole event more engaging. They were teaching on how to re- create the Burlesque  collection look. However, after the final touch, I came to a conclusion that asian eyes are not really suitable for that look.

Then came the time when they announce the 4 lucky draw winners who will get to win a Playzone workshop invitation and also the winners of Hearty Confession.

Basically, Hearty confession was part of the RSVP. We had to be as creative as possible, and confess what we love about STAGE. As I was a little late in replying in the RSVP, I was afraid I might not get it. So I typed a whole lot of words and mailed them asap. And remember my friend's birthday present? I was asking for kind soul out there to get me the limited edition eyeshadow palette for me, and I wasn't expecting to get it.

Guess Santa heard my wishes, and I actually won the makeup worth $200 with that palette in there.

Was really happy, and my friend decided to do an impromptu video right there! So we were being funny, and my answers to all her questions were really ridiculous. Seriously, I wasn't expecting to win that whole lot, and I'm absolutely thankful. =)

With the other 2 winners. And I managed to have a chat with Dyan and Amy because they were present too. It was a really nice encounter to meet girls from onsugar.

Super friendly girls!

Though I was standing throughout the session, I did enjoy myself too. Here's the picture of the things I've gotten during the workshop. They gave a mystery door gift as well, and it was a lip gloss which was pretty brown in colour. Thought it wasn't much of my liking, but when I wear it on with nude makeup, it looks good.
Yep, so that pretty much sum up the whole workshop. Here's the video that my friend recorded, and also an virtual tour of what's in the box. =)

Hope you had a good laugh!

Smoky Purple Eyes tutorial

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Dec 14, 2009 6:55AM

While I bury myself with projects to do, I thought I share with you my latest tutorial. This time round its something for those who love smoky looks. I did this smoky purple eyes which is always a popular choice. So you are gonna ask, what has this got to do with Christmas? Well, its a look that you can pull off any time of the year, not neccessary Christmas.

But hey, if you are going out for party (told you, I love to party alot), you might want to use this. =)

<object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344"> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mRauGlup-eE&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" /><embed allowfullscreen="true" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mRauGlup-eE&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed> </object></p>

Seriously hope you girls would find this tutorial useful. And don't mind the sudden interval of the picture of my eye in the video. I was trying to use it to set the thumbnail. It didn't work. *kill myself with toothpick*

Off to handle projects now.

X'mas Look tutorial: The Glittery

Posted By cherylbianca ~ Dec 11, 2009 8:38PM

So, Christmas and New Year is approaching. The year is about to reach an end, and its time for you to party and enjoy! I've decided to make a few tutorials for this season, just so it comes in helpful for you if you wanna party.

I'm trying to post all the videos I have when I have the time. And for today, before I leave for the STAGE workshop(will definitely update you girls about the workshop), I'm sharing a tutorial for the Xmas look: The Glittery.

Christmas is my favorite season, and it always brings about a cosy feeling in me. Besides enjoying the time I spend with my family and love ones, I enjoy partying as well. Glittery look definitely make you stand up among the rest.

Its a really simple tutorial, though it can get a tad messy. But practice makes perfect, so not to worry about it. The main focus of this look is the eyes. It brings about attention, so do not apply eye catching lipstick or get your cheeks all blush up. And if you think removing the glitters are going to be a tough job, you are so wrong. Applying it on fake eyelash glue, make all the glitters stick together. So when you remove it, it is going to come off as a clump. No messiness involved!

Watch the tutorial girls!

<object height="344" width="425" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Xuyd9xoMRjI&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" /><embed height="344" width="425" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Xuyd9xoMRjI&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed> </object>

Hope you girls like this tutorial, drop your comments ok?

P.S. Youtube has some copyright issue about the music. Sigh, just bear with it while the audioswap is in progress.

UPDATE: Audioswap done. Gosh, the music is soothing though, but that is so not me!

Am gonna prepare myself for the workshop later. See you girls soon for another tutorial.

God Bless,

Bianca
